The identification the law requires
Election advertising in Quebec carries required identification. Getting it wrong means reprinting a whole run, so we set it at proof stage and show you exactly what will appear.

Under Quebec's Election Act, an election sign must carry the name of the printer or manufacturer, together with the name and title of the official agent who authorized it. Both parts matter. Campaigns routinely remember the agent and forget the printer, and a run of two thousand signs missing the printer line is two thousand signs to fix.
Because we are the printer, our half of that block is ours to get right, and we set it for you. Your half we take from your official agent in writing, put on the proof, and ask you to approve explicitly rather than letting it slide through with the artwork. Federal and municipal campaigns carry their own authorization requirements, and we handle those the same way.
We are a printer, not your legal adviser, and we will not pretend otherwise. The authority on what your sign must say is Élections Québec and your returning officer, and on a federal campaign, Elections Canada. What we guarantee is that what you and your official agent approve is what gets printed, and that we will flag it if the block looks incomplete before we run two thousand of them.
Frequently asked questions
- What exactly has to appear on a Quebec election sign?
- The name of the printer or manufacturer, and the name and title of the official agent. We supply the printer line. Your official agent supplies theirs, and we put it on the proof for explicit approval. Confirm the current wording with Élections Québec or your returning officer, since we are the printer and not the authority on it.
- Does the law control what the sign says?
- The Election Act regulates the materials and where signs may be placed, not the message. The identification block is the part that is mandatory. Your design is yours.
- Do you print for every party?
- Yes. We print for any candidate or party lawfully entitled to campaign, and we do not discuss one client's work with another. Several campaigns in the same riding can be in production here at the same time.
